Elmwood's New Fire Truck!

The new rig is coming from Alabama.  It's a 1996 unit and carries a 1,000 gallon tank.  It will have a deck gun and has only 67,000 miles on it.  Seats three and has a 1,250 GPM pump.

Funding for the unit is from a combination of a small bank loan, community fund raisers (see next item) and people paying their annual dues.  Couple all this with a few individual donations and here comes the new truck!  Your membership dues will help pay for the new unit.

Air Pack Grant Coming

Thanks to a pending grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) the Elmwood department is about to acquire six complete air packs with six spare air bottles.  This will update department equipment and provide for greater firefighter safety.  The estimated value of the grant is $30,000 for the community.

First Responders

The Elmwood Fire Department now has nine state-certified first CPR first responders with automatic external defibrillators who have completed Basic Life Support training in 2009.  Be sure and visit our CPR page to learn how to save a life till our first responders can get on scene...
